The Return of "Smogovci" to Trešnja Theatre: New Weekday Showtimes Now Available!

Neighbourhood antics, iconic Croatian humor, and the irresistible spirit of old Zagreb are returning to the stage at Trešnja City Theatre! The legendary play Smogovci, directed by Rene Medvešek, returns to the repertoire for the first time this season starting this weekend.

The big news for theatre lovers this season is that public tickets will now also be available for weekday morning performances, giving audiences extra opportunities to meet the beloved Vragec family and their eccentric neighbours.

About the Cult Urban Comedy

Based on Hrvoje Hitrec's iconic novel, the urban comedy Smogovci takes the audience back to the Pešćenica neighborhood of Zagreb in the early 1980s. Inside the crowded home of the Vragec family, there is never a dull moment.

While their mother works abroad in Germany, the brothers manage on their own, build a new house, and get involved in various hilarious mishaps. The story reaches its climax when local petty thieves, Crni Džek and Kumpić, accidentally kidnap a baby instead of a bundle of valuables, prompting the entire neighborhood to join the search. Decades after its creation, this timeless story of family, unity, and growing up continues to resonate with new generations.
