In early September, the island of Korčula transforms into the vibrant heart of Mediterranean cultural heritage. From September 2 to 13, 2026, the Festival of Sword Dances (Festival viteških igara) brings together top local folklore groups to perform the island's legendary mock-battle sword dances—Moreška, Kumpanjija, and Moštra.
Held across multiple historic towns and villages, this unique festival gives visitors an authentic look into centuries-old traditions, dramatic sword fights, intricate traditional costumes, and rich island folklore.
